「もこみち」という変わった名前は芸名ではなく本名。本人曰く、「まっすぐ」を意味する「もこ（moco）」と日本語の「道」を合わせて、「まっすぐな道を歩んでほしい」という願いをこめて父親が命名した。
「moco」がどこの国の言葉かははっきりと言及されておらず、本人はイメージDVD『太陽の季節』の中で「恐らく、スペイン辺りのローカルな言葉ではないか」と語っているが、実際スペイン語のmocoの意味は「鼻糞」。
